The PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana aims to put rooftop solar on 1 crore homes across India, with up to 300 units of free electricity per month for eligible households. In Himachal Pradesh, the subsidy is higher than in most states because HP is a special-category state.
Subsidy Amount in Himachal Pradesh
| 1 kW | ₹33,000 |
| 2 kW | ₹66,000 |
| 3 kW or more | ₹85,800 |
These amounts are about 10% higher than in general states because Himachal Pradesh is a special-category state. The subsidy is capped at ₹85,800, even for systems larger than 3 kW.
